Our Story

From humble beginnings in 1993 with Ian Higgins purchasing their first Curtainsider Truck, “Truck n Loader” was born. Steady growth over the next 12 years meant expansion so Renwick Transport Limited was formed in 2005.

Husband and wife team Ian & Karen Higgins were very passionate about the business and family involvement. Karen eventually found the administration side too busy and convinced daughter Jax Smith to leave her Pharmacy Job and join the team in January 2005.

With ten trucks and various machinery the business continued to grow under the management of a very customer focused family and team of dedicated drivers. 

Daughter Jen Hall joined in January 2008 so that Jax could concentrate on managing the Operations side of the business with Jen running the day to day office requirements that had grown considerably. 

In August 2009 big changes were again afoot with the move from Tyrone Park Premises to Broadbridge Transport Yard on the Corner of State Highway 63 & Hawkesbury Road Renwick along with the purchase of BTL’s General Freight and Fertiliser Business and six more Trucks and various Machinery. 

2010 to 2019 saw challenging and rewarding times as Renwick Transport recovered from a rapid expansion and implemented a vehicle replacement/upgrade programme. We managed to reach our goal of 25 trucks along with 22 loyal and hardworking employees and the ever trusty crew of casuals to help out as the seasonal work arises. 

September 2019 will be forever etched in our History as the year we lost our ‘Bossman”, Mentor and all round good bugger very suddenly. This rocked our world but we knew Ian/Dad wouldn’t want us to stop moving forward and keeping those wheels turning. 

In December 2021 Karen/Mum decided it was time to step back and enjoy retirement and in doing so she offered to sell her shares to Jen & Jax/us. After much deliberation we both agreed to take the plunge and continue the family legacy and haven’t looked back. 

Moving forward to 2023 we celebrated our 30 year Anniversary Milestone and wow what a celebration we had with some very special people. The black tie event was a huge success and much fun had. Our annual awards were presented along with some fantastic speeches & poetry by Karen, Jax & Jen, all MC’d by our Business Mentor Neil Reid. 

We can proudly say we have a very passionate team who have helped us grow the business to what it is today. We have diversified as the opportunities have arisen with clients and that has been very rewarding. 

Jax’s 3 boys have pretty much grown up with Renwick Transport a constant in their lives and she now even has a wee Grandson who loves visiting and jumping into a truck. Jen’s 2 girls have been born into the life too with their bassinets & jolly jumper fixtures part of the office over the years. 

We look forward to seeing what the future holds in this ever changing Transport Industry and will meet challenges head on, find solutions and focus on what we do best. We will always be “Large enough to deliver & small enough to Care”
